Heathcliffe
Heathcliffe was my soulmate.
7th September, 2004.
Heathcliffe died, in my arms, on Monday 23rd August, at 6.15am. Old age and missing Rupert and Marti the woofie, got the better of him. After three convulsions in a row, I had to take him to the nearest vets for 'that' injection. I don't think it even took a whole second for his heart to finally stop. He just went completely limp in my arms and when I did put him down, he was too limp to pick up again.
Right after Rue died, Weefie started to eat and drink a lot. I thought it was a good thing, but apparently it was the first signs of kidney failure. He just suddenly went downhill and even though on the friday before he died he was on a drip, it did nothing to alleviate his pain. Should have followed my initial instincts and not allowed him to be mauled about by the vets.
The week before.
Friday night, when I got him home again.
As friday night draws on; "I'm just not happy." he says. It breaks my heart to see him like this, Marti the woofie looked this dejected just before she died.
"I don't feel very well, but I can still do 'mr pretty paws' for you"
Sunday night, just a few hours before the convulsions set in to rack his already frail body. So wide-eyed, just a kitten's face again.
Heathcliffe lived with me from August 1987 till the day he died, August 23rd 2004. He was about ten months old when we met eachother and eloped (not of course in the mad 'marry your pet' american sense!). When my auntie came over from Spain, to see my mum on her death bed, she visited with me and met Heathcliffe and gave him a toy monkey. I gave it back to her on the 25th August, this year. I have too many cats things and can't keep all of them. I'm not quite sure what to do with his favourite toy, a pink snake with a bell, on a long bit of pink string, I just keep remembering him playing tussle with it and then suddenly humping it. Cats! eh.
